How do I look, Mom?

Yesterday, Olivia got into my makeup while I was in the shower.  Thankfully, this was as bad as it got!
Realizing I was taking her picture because it was funny, not pretty!  She is a trip!

Randoms

Olivia loves to be outside, but it is hard to just go out and play at the apartment.  In the afternoon, our front yard becomes a football field.  The other day, I got Olivia outside before all the kids got out of school.  She took her golf clubs out and practiced hitting the ball.  Carick just ordered her some real clubs.  I hope she enjoys golf as much as he does.

On Thursday, we went by Carick's work because Casey had been wanting to take a picture of all the Howard males in the shop.
4 generations
This is what happened when we added Olivia in.
On Friday, we went to New Roads to Market at the Mill with Mrs. Cathy, Aunt Cindy, and Mrs. Phyllis.  The kids did really well even though is was extremely hot.  Olivia's hair was soaked with sweat by the time we left.  Nothing sounded better than a dip in the pool, so we ran home and got Olivia's swimsuit and headed out to Carick's parents' house.  At first, Olivia was a little apprehensive about getting in the water, but by the end, she was jumping in.  We didn't put Emerson in yet, so he laid in the chair and watched.

4 Month Old Comparison

After playing around a little while, I figured out how to do a comparison picture.  Olivia's picture is grainy because I had to save it from the blog.  My external hard drive is hiding from me!  So what do you think?  Do they look alike?

Girls Day Out

Yesterday, Olivia and I had a girls day.  I left Emerson with Carick's mom and we took off to Ag Magic, a free event for kids at LSU.  On the way there, Olivia told me she was so excited.  We walked around to all the exhibits and did each activity they had for kids.  The animals were at the very end.  She tried to rush through everything, just so she could see the cows.
making animal footprints in sand
picking lemons
digging for worms in the dirt...she could have stayed here all day
We got to see chicks hatching out of their eggs.
She had to pet every animal there.
excited to see a cow
She loved this baby goat.
There was also a Smart Bodies exhibit.  We walked through a maze type thing and learned about our organs.  It was over her head, but she still liked it.
After we left Ag Magic, I let her pick where she wanted to eat lunch.  Of course, she picked Chick-fil-a.  We ate and she played on the playground for a little while.  From there, we went to TJ Max, Books a Million, and Toys r Us.  She was pooped and fell asleep on the way home.  I think she had a great time.  I can't wait to do it again.

4 Months Old

Emerson turned 4 months old yesterday.  He is such a chunk!  He hasn't been to the doctor yet for a well baby visit, but when we were there last week, he weighed 16 pounds 6 ounces.  We had to go see the nurse practitioner because I wanted to confirm the lump in his belly button was an umbilical hernia.  We also determined his cough was not leftover RSV, but actually was reflux.  We have been giving him oatmeal in his bottle and put a crib wedge in his bed.  It has helped but not totally solved the problem.  Right now, Emerson is wearing a size 3 diaper and 6 month clothes.  He is a happy baby and loves watching Olivia.  He gets the biggest smile on his face when she sings to him.  She loves tickling him to make him laugh.
I was hoping Emerson's eyes would change to blue, but I'm pretty sure they are brown.  He isn't as pale as Olivia and his hair still has a reddish tint.  It is starting to fall out some, so who knows what color it will end up being.
I can't believe how much he has grown in just 4 months.  I am trying to figure out how to make a picture that has Olivia's and Emerson's side by side.  As soon as I figure it out, I will post it.

Phone Dump

Since I haven't posted anything in awhile I decided to pull some things from my iphone to post.  We really haven't done anything lately, so I haven't taken any pictures.  Tomorrow, Emerson turns 4 months old, so expect another post really soon.
Olivia playing dress up in all her fun things Robin gave her.
The damage from falling at the golf course
just a cute picture before we went to see the Easter Bunny
Olivia fell asleep one afternoon curled up in Carick's legs.  I'm pretty sure she stayed like this for over an hour.

What I walked in to after loading clothes in the washing machine.  She can get into anything in only a matter of minutes.
Happy Emerson!

A couple of firsts

This weekend was Emerson's first time in the jumperoo. He seemed interested but didn't last very long. He looked around at everything, but really liked the little ducks in the ball. His feet barely touched the floor so I put a pillow down for him to stand on.

This weekend, we also started Emerson on cereal. I went ahead and started with oatmeal since that is what worked best with Olivia. He didn't seem to care for it and only swallowed it if we put a bottle in his mouth. I'm sure it will get better with time.
Over it!
